Safe zone and tips
- Pins taller than 2:3 may be cut off in people’s home feed; stay at 2:3 to be safe.
- Pins are shown in narrow columns, so text overlays need to be short and large.
- Use a sharp, high-quality image; blurry or heavily compressed pins look poor next to others.
Making a 2:3 image from a phone photo
A typical 12-megapixel phone photo is 3024 × 4032. The largest 2:3 area you can cut from it is 2688 × 4032 pixels: crop to that, then scale it down to 1000 × 1500. Cropping first and scaling second keeps everything in proportion.
The calculator is set to 1000 × 1500. Enter your own width and height to see their ratio, or type a new width in box 2 to get the height that matches.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best size for Pinterest pins?
Use 1000 × 1500 (Standard pin, 2:3) and 1000 × 1000 (Square, 1:1). The first one is the safest default.
Which aspect ratio should Pinterest pins use?
2:3 and 1:1. Crop to the ratio first and then scale to the size in pixels, so nothing is stretched or cut off unexpectedly.
Why is 1000 × 1500 the standard Pinterest size?
Pinterest lays pins out in columns of equal width, so a pin’s height decides how much space it gets. 2:3 gives a tall, eye-catching pin that is not cut off, and 1000 × 1500 is sharp on phones while staying quick to upload.
